We picked up David and Austin yesterday, so it really feels like summer now! The SSBTRVA kids had a car wash scheduled yesterday at PNC Bank so we started our summer visit off right. However, Mother Nature changed our plans pretty quickly when a thunderstorm rolled in. The PNC staff was great to the kids, though, and they all got an ice cream while we waited out the storm.
We packed up our gear and headed to our friends’ house for a surprise party for Austin. (It was QUITE a surprise since her birthday was over a month ago!) A lot of her friends are out of town for summer, but we still had about 10 kids there.
This morning we packed up and hit the road for Pittsburgh. This is Austin’s first time to get to go with us so we are excited to show her some of the city and the hospital that has come to be such a huge part of our lives.
Tomorrow will be a “fun” day just being tourists before David’s appointment on Monday morning. No MRI on this visit, so there probably won’t be too much to report, but I’ll fill you in on any good stuff that happens.
Hope all of you are off to a great summer, too! We are so appreciative of all the folks who have us in prayer. One of our friends always says “Living the dream” when someone asks him how he’s doing. I think that’s a pretty good answer because dreams always take unexpected twists and turns. It’s what you make of that semi-surreal experience that makes the difference. I never dreamed of these twists and turns, and I wouldn’t have wished for them, but I’m determined to make the best of them.
